Incidents in Yorkshire, The War Years - please select the monthly section.
Please note that this section is very much a work in progress section and will probably take many years to complete and do each and every incident and loss justice. Incidents detailed in the other sections are also included in these main "Yorkshire" pages.

The county boundary changes in the early 1970's have caused a number of the these incidents detailed to now be outside the old Riding boundaries. I have tried to included everything which was in Yorkshire at the time of the incident. The Thornaby/Teesside area is one such area, now a county in it's own right, Thornaby was in Yorkshire. Similarly much of the Northern Peak District was in Yorkshire but these boundaries shrunk inwards, as did the Northern part of Yorkshire in the favour of County Durham. Other websites are better placed to describe the full boundary changes than I can really do justice.
