Yorkshire Air Casualties - 1918 to 1919.

Below is believed to be a complete list of all air fatalities in Yorkshire between the end of the First World War and the end of 1919. There has never been a list of flying accidents made for the whole Yorkshire region and I doubt that I have listed them all despite my best efforts. I would welcome information or basic details to begin to research the incident myself.

12th November 1918 - Sopwith Pup B4181 - Tadcaster aerodrome.

Pilot - Captain Stearne Tighe Edwards DSC and Bar RAF, aged 25, of Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada. Died of injuries 22nd November 1918. Buried Tadcaster Cemetery, Yorkshire (B4/G/25).

24th November 1918 - DH.9 D1218 - South of River Tees.

Pilot (Instructor) - Lt Malcolm William Henry Mackay RAF, aged 19, of Motherwell. Buriel Dalziel (Airbles) Cemetery, Lanarkshire (B.1383).

Passenger - Lt William Henry Halfpenny RAF, aged 32. Buried Liverpool (Anfield) Cemetery (IX/C.E.150).

7th December 1918 - Sopwith Camel B7457 - nr Tadcaster aerodrome.

Pilot - 2nd Lt David Ewan McConnell RAF, aged 20, of Steyning, Sussex. Buried Steep Churchyard, Hampshire.

10th December 1918 - Sopwith Camel E7149 - Towton.

Pilot - 2nd Lt Ernest Fulton Reynolds RAF, aged 21. Of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Buried Tadcaster Cemetery, Yorkshire (B4/F/24).

16th December 1918 - Avro 504 F2326 - Redcar.

Pilot - 2nd Lt Sydney Hopewell Wright RAF, aged 19, of Nottingham. Buried Nottingham Church (Rock) Cemetery.

19th December 1918 - Sopwith Camel D1933 - Marske.

Pilot - Lt Arthur Cecil Muir Doucet RAF, aged 20, of Quebec, Canada. Buried Marske Churchyard, Yorkshire.

18th January 1919 - Sopwith Camel F4010 - Marske.

Pilot - 2nd Leslie George Woolhouse RAF, aged 27, of Parson's Green, Fulham. Buried Fulham Palace Road Cemetery, London. Now commemorated on a special memorial at Fulham Palace Road Cemetery, London.

28th February 1919 - SE5a E5920 - Driffield aerodrome.

Pilot - 2nd Lt William Rexford Reid RAF, aged 18, of Picton, Ontario, Canada. Buried Driffield Cemetery, Yorkshire (grave 4622).

26th July 1919 - Avro 504 D2027 - Doncaster aerodrome.

Passenger - Lt Jahoff Loupinsky RAF. Buried Doncaster (Hyde Park) Cemetery, Yorkshire (MX/410).
