RAF SE5a E5920 at Eastburn / Driffield aerodrome.
On 28th February 1919 this aeroplane was flying in the area of the home aerodrome of Eastburn (Driffield) when it made a steep climbing turn at a reasonably low height. The aeroplane lost flying speed, stalled and dived into the ground with there not being enough height for the pilot to recover it. The wreckage then caught fire and despite other aerodrome personnel being on the scene quickly they could not rescue him. The pilot was killed in the crash with he and the aircraft being part of No.21 Training Depot Station, based at Driffield.
