Halifax W1141 at Linton on Ouse airfield.
On the night of the 16th / 17th June 1942 the crew of this 35 Squadron aircraft was detailed to attack Essen. The aircraft took off from Linton on Ouse at 22.59hrs. The crew did not attack the primary target area but released their bomb load over the alternative target of Bonn. The crew landed safely at Linton on Ouse at 04.34hrs. After the aircraft's master switch that was used to activate the detonators for the ARI (Boozer) and the IFF equipment was accidently switched from the safe position to the live position.
