Beaufighter T3330 (probably) at Catfoss airfield.

On 18th January 1942 this aircraft received a Cat.B damage assessment while it was in the care of No.2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit. What happened is unclear but as the unit was based at Catfoss airfield I have created this webpage. It may have been damaged as a result of a flying accident. It was not repaired and was struck off charge later in the year.

Pilot - Name unknown.

Beaufighter T3330 was built to contract B.30264/39 by the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd. at Filton. It was flown to 51 MU at Lichfield on 3rd June 1941 and was taken on charge by No.2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit on 4th July 1941. It received a Cat.B damage assessment on 18th January 1942 and was transported back to the Bristol factory at Filton for a repair in works. The repair was probably begun but on 14th May 1942 it was reassessed and the damage upgraded to Re-Cat.E and it was struck off charge.
