Wellington R1504 was built to contract 992424/39 by Vickers Armstrong's Ltd. at Hawarden and was awaiting collection in February 1941. The aircraft was initially received by 48 MU on 10th February 1941 and was taken on charge by 25 O.T.U. at Finningley on 6th March 1941. On 31st July 1941 it sustained Cat.Ac/FA damage as the result of a flying accident though no details of what happened are known. It was repaired on site by a team from Vickers and returned to 25 O.T.U. on 25th October 1941. As a result of the flying accident at Finningley on 8th June 1942 Cat.B/FA was the damage assessment and this required a repair in a works factory at Doncaster. The aircraft next appears being taken on charge by 304 Squadron at Dale on 21st December 1942, they moved to Docking on 3rd February 1943. On 5th June 1943 it was transferred to 7 (c)O.T.U. at Limavady. On 30th October 1943 it was ditched off Downhill, Co.Derry. Cat.E/FA damage was recorded on the paperwork.
