Hurricane Z2388 at Dishforth airfield.
At 09.15hrs on 10th October 1941 this 43 Squadron aircraft taxied onto soft ground at Dishforth airfield and tipped on to its nose sustaining minor damage. The squadron was based at Acklington at the time but why the aircraft was at Dishforth is not known, given the aircraft was sent to Russia not long after this date it may have been en route for a packing depot. The pilot was still working up to being an operational pilot at the time. He was involved in another similar incident at Acklington two days later. On 23rd October 1941 he was posted away from the squadron for service overseas.
