Wellington X9811 damaged by flak, landed at Snaith airfield.

During the evening of 22nd October 1941 the crew of this 150 Squadron aircraft flew an operational flight to bomb Mannheim. They took off from Snaith airfield at 18.20hrs. While over Germany the aircraft received a near-direct hit by flak with the burst badly wounding the rear gunner in the back. The crew were able to remain in control of the aircraft and landed at 23.20hrs at Snaith.

Wellington X9811 was built by Vickers Armstrong Ltd. It was received by 45 MU on 1st August 1941 and taken on charge by 25 O.T.U. at Finningley on 12th August 1941. It was then transferred to 150 Squadron at Snaith on 18th August 1941.
