On the evening of 20th October 1941 this 305 Squadron was flown on an operational flight to bomb Emden. The crew took off from Lindholme at 18.05hrs and landed at 22.56hrs. While then taxying around Lindholme airfield it then struck a gun emplacement. The gun emplacement must already have been deemed to be in the way of taxying aircraft as the guns were already removed and steps were being taken to remove the emplacement.
