Wellington R1774 at Finningley airfield.

At 19.05hrs on 31st October 1941 this 25 Operational Training Unit aircraft landed too fast at Finningley airfiel on a wet surface, the brakes were ineffective and the aircraft overshot into the boundary hedge. Minor damage resulted.

Pilot - Sgt Ronald Frank Jessup DFM RAF (745142).

Crew - Names unknown. Ronald Jessup was awarded the DFM for service with 44 Squadron, Gazetted on 23rd September 1941. He became an instructor with 25 OTU. Having received a commission, he was made a PoW when 25 OTU Wellington DV434 failed to return from the Thousand Bomber raid on Essen on 2nd June 1942.
