Wellington R1716 at Snaith airfield.
During the afternoon of 29th September 1941 this 150 Squadron aircraft was being given an air test. At 15.40hrs the aircraft was landing at Snaith in a strong cross wind, on landing it swung off the runway and struck a large mound of sand that was being used to level the airfield. This mound of sand caused the undercarriage to collapse.

Harold Blake was awarded the DFC for service with 150 Squadron on 30th January 1942. On 31st May 1942 he was acting as an instructor with 22 OTU and was killed when Wellington DV701 failed to return from the Thousand Bomber raid on Cologne. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
