Spitfire P8475 at Catterick airfield.

During the early evening of 17th September 1941 this 145 Squadron aircraft was given a test flight following a major inspection. On landing at Catterick airfield on completion of this test flight at 18.00hrs the aircraft initially bounced and then the engine failed. Realising the aircraft was going to overshot the airfield the pilot deliberately swung it but the undercarriage then collapsed.
