Whitley N1477 at Driffield airfield.
On 22nd October 1941 this No.2 Beam Approach Training Flight aircraft crashed on landing at Driffield airfield. No further details are known. Minor damage resulted.

Whitley N1477 was built to contract 75147/38 by Armstrong Whitworth Ltd. at Baginton and was awaiting collection on 12th January 1940. The aircraft was initially placed into MU store until being taken on charge by 19 O.T.U. at Kinloss not long after then unit had formed on 27th May 1940. The aircraft is listed as being on charge with 78 Squadron at Dishforth later in 1940 although it was never used operationally by them. By the end of 1940 it was on charge with 2 B.A.T. Flight at Linton on Ouse. The unit moved to Driffield on 14th April 1941. It sustained minor Cat.A/FA damage on 22nd October 1941 and was repaired on site. On 31st October 1941 No.2 B.A.T. Flight was re-designated No.1502 B.A.T. Flight. On 30th December 1941 it again sustained minor Cat.A/FA damage at Driffield. It was again repaired on site and remained in use by 1502 B.A.T. Flight. The aircraft next appears on charge with 1481 Flight at Lindholme but date of transfer is not known. On 2nd March 1943 it was struck by Lancaster W4834 at Lindholme, Cat.B/FA damage resulted. It was collected by 60 M.U. from Shipton by Benningborough to be taken for repair in a works factory on 12th March 1943, the repair was probably carried out by Armstrong Whitworth Ltd. at Baginton. On completion of the repair it was placed in long term MU storage and remained there for the rest of the war. The aircraft was struck off charge on 31st May 1945.
