Battle K9221 on Houndkirk Moor, near Dore, Sheffield.
On 24th August 1941 this 16 (P)FTS aircraft suffered mechanicial failure when the pilot was undertaking a naviagtion and map reading training flight, he force landed the aircraft in the region of Houndkirk Moor
near Dore, Sheffield and is believed to have walked away uninjured.

Battle K9221 was built to contract 522745/36 by The Fairey Aviation Co. Ltd. at Stockport and on 20th June 1938 it was delivered to the A&AEE at Martlesham Heath for
armament trials. On 9th September 1939 it moved with this organisation to Boscombe Down. On 30th May 1940 it was flown to 27 MU at Shawbury for long term storage where
it stayed until 19th August 1941 when it was taken on charge by 16 (Polish) FTS technically based at Hucknall but this aircraft was used at Newton. On 24th August 1941
it suffered this incident near Sheffield, on 29th August 1941 it was dismantled and transported by road to David Rosenfield Ltd. at Barton for assessment. Cat.E/FA
damage was recorded and the aircraft was struck off charge on 15th December 1941.
Leon Przeniczka was born in Wanne, Germany in May 1916. He appears to have ceased pilot training after August 1941 and remustered as a wireless operator, later serving with 305 Squadron.
