Unidentified Blenheim at Church Fenton airfield.
On 9th September 1941 the pilot of this 54 O.T.U. aircraft was taking off from Church Fenton airfield when the starboard engine failed, the aircraft
swung off the runway at 20.55hrs and collided with an army hut located on the perimeter of the airfield. The identity of the aircraft was not
given in the unit record book and as yet the aircraft has not been identified during this research, assuming it was not badly damaged it was
probably repaired locally rather than being written off which would have left information in the records.
Pilot - P/O P W Vincent. Uninjured.
The pilot was probably Peter Wyndham Vincent RAFVR (101564) who received a commission to the rank of P/O on probation on 3rd July 1941. He was later promoted to F/O on probation on 3rd July 1942 and F/Lt (war subs) on 3rd July 1943. Searching the births and deaths index of England
he was probably born in 1920 in the Sherborne area of Dorset and died in the Reading area in 1990.
