Battle R7411 near Yokefleet, Goole.
On 30th October 1940 this 307 Squadron aircraft suffered from loosing it's engine coolant in the air and as would be expected,
the engine overheated and then failed. After flying at low altitude for a time because of mist in the Goole area,
the crew of two baled out and the aircraft crashed near Yokefleet, Goole. Both men had heavy landings and suffered broken legs.
Pilot - P/O Kazimierz Kazimierczuk PAF (P1057). Injured.
Passenger - Sgt Mieczyslaw Adamiecki PAF (P780425). Injured.
Adamiecki was also a pilot in Poland before Poland was invaded.
Kazimierczuk was already a qualified pilot by 1933 while in Poland and was acting as a test pilot for the Polish PWS-19 aircraft.
Battle R7411 was built to contract 15447/39 by Fairey Aviation Ltd, at Stockport and was awaiting collection in August 1940. It was
flown into storage at 27 MU at Lichfield on 4th August 1940. It was later taken on charge by 307 Squadron at Kirton in Lindsey on 7th
September 1940. Cat.W/FA damage was recorded following the incident detailed above. The damaged aircraft was recovered for
assessment but after assessment some time later it was struck off charge on 3rd January 1941.
