Whitley P5022 at Driffield airfield, destroyed by enemy action.

Whitley P5022 was destroyed by the enemy action at Driffield airfield on 15th August 1940, while parked it was bombed.

Whitley P5022 was built to contract 75147/38 by Armstrong Whitworth Ltd. at Baginton and was awaiting collection on 4th June 1940. After a period of being in MU storage it was taken on charge by 102 Squadron at Driffield in late July 1940. On 15th August 1940 Cat.W damage was recorded following the enemy action.

This aircraft carried the code "DY-B" and is shown in the photograph above.
