Whitley P4945 was destroyed by the enemy action at Driffield airfield on 15th August 1940 while it was parked and bombed.
Whitley P4945 was built to contract 75147/38 by Armstrong Whitworth Ltd. at Baginton and was awaiting collection on
9th April 1940. After a lengthy period of MU storage it was taken on charge by 102 Squadron at Driffield in early August 190
as a replacement for older aircraft with tired airframes. It was destroyed on 15th August 1940 and Cat.W damage was recorded.
The burnt out remains of an unidentified Whitley following this raid.
