At 06.40hrs on 2nd April 1940 this 608 Squadron aircraft was being taxied around Thornaby airfield in poor light prior to an operational flight when a wheel left the perimeter track and dropped through a set of boards that were attempting to cover a drainage hole. Minor damage resulted.
