Whitley N1353 was destroyed by the enemy action at Driffield airfield on 15th August 1940 while it was parked in a hanger that was bombed.
Whitley N1353 after the attack. It was built to contract 75147/38 by Armstrong Whitworth Ltd.
at Baginton and was awaiting collection on 7th September 1939 and delivered to 78 Squadron at Dishforth
on 15th September 1939 when the unit arrived from Ternhill and commenced conversion from Whitley Mk.IV
and MkIVa's. The following month it was transferred to 77 Squadron at Driffield, 77 Squadron were posted
on detachment to Kinloss on 15th April 1940 and it went with them and returned to Driffield on 4th May 1940.
It was destroyed in the air-raid at Driffield on 15th August 1940 with Cat.W damage recorded.
