Hampden L4162 at Doncaster airfield.
During the 5th September 1939 this 7 Squadron aircraft was used for a training exercise. 7 Squadron were based at Finningley airfield but were using Doncaster airfield for part of their training routines, in this case for local flying and a circuits and landings training exercise. On one of the take-offs from Doncaster the aircraft suffered an engine failure over after leaving the ground. The pilot could not maintain height and at twenty five feet above the ground the aircraft stalled. On touching down hard the undercarriage collapsed.
