Gauntlet K5352 near Bawtry.
On 14th September 1939 this 616 Squadron aircraft was being flown on a formation flying exercise when it suffered engine failure in the Bawtry area, south of Doncaster. The pilot attempted a forced landing near Bawtry but the undercarriage was damaged. Exactly where this occurred is not known but parts of the area around the village are in Yorkshire and parts are outside.
