Glider damaged in the hills around Malham.
In April 1931 the Ilkley and District Gliding Club obtained the use of a hundred acre site north of Malham, near Middle House Farm. This farm is a mile north-east of Malham Tarn. Over the Easter weekend in April 1931 the club held pre-planned a meeting, they sustained one mishap in 87 flights. A pony was used to tow the gliders back to the top of a hill top where the flights begun from. On an unknown date during Easter 1931 this unidentified glider sustained damage when it crashed in the "Malham Hills" at 17.00hrs. The front spar was cracked but was repaired in just over four hours and was flown again that weekend. The incident occurred on land owned by Mr Winskill and tennant farmed by Mr Carr. A photograph was given in an edition of Sailplane and Gliding magazine.
