Slingsby T.43 Skylark BGA.981 glider near Sutton Bank.

On Sunday, 18th June 1961 this glider was returning to the gliding site at Sutton Bank with the pilot intending on landing having been in the air for nearly two hours. On the approach to land in a light wind the glider struck trees on the east side of the landing site and dived into the ground, the inexperienced pilot sustained serious injuries. The glider was later repaired and destroyed in a crash in Warwickshire in 1990.
