Slingsby Falke G-AYSD at Sutton Bank.

On 21st December 1977 this glider was damaged following a crash on take off from the Sutton Bank gliding site. It struck a hedge and both wings detached. Nothing further is known about the incident.

The date given in Yorkshire Air News was 27th December 1977.

G-AYSD was built by Slingsby Sailplanes Ltd at Kirkbymoorside and first registered to Vickers Ltd, London on 4th February 1971. They only kept the ownership until 19th March 1971. The aircraft was purchased by Lawrence Hill of Horsforth, Leeds and registered to him on 7th April 1971. He cancelled the registration on 29th June 1971. It was then purchased by Yorkshire Gliding Club (Pty) Ltd based at Sutton Bank and registered to them on 24th August 1971. It suffered this major accident on 21st December 1977 at Sutton Bank and was cancelled as destroyed on 20th March 1978. The registration was restored over three year later on 20th November 1981 when John Conolly of Darlington became the owner. Its last registration commenced on 8th March 1995 when Phillip Warner Hextall of Swidlincote, Burton-on-Trent became the owner.
