Cessna FRA150L G-CIIR at Troutbeck.

There is a very detailed AIIB report on this incident and I see no point plagiarizing this report on my webpage, this webpage is purely shown for the completion of records and it contains no new information on top of that which has already been published.

On 11th October 2020 this aircraft and one other flew from Gamston airfield, in Nottinghamshire to Troutbeck airfield, near Penrith through marginal weather conditions. Their pilots had planned to meet the pilot of a third aircraft that had flown down from Scotland. The pilot of this Cessna was an inexperienced pilot, his aircraft was not suitable for Troutbeck airfield and while the other two pilots did obtain permission prior to landing there, he did not. Despite this, both Gamston aircraft and the third also landed at Troutbeck on a wet surface that also had boggy patches in places. Later in the day this Cessna attempted to take off from Troutbeck to return to Gamston and while it became airborne, ten seconds later it turned then rolled to the left, and it dived into the ground. Several people, including the other pilots still on the ground at the airfield witnessed the crash and ran to it, to find it with the tail in the air. They were able to remove the pilot from the wreckage before it then fell to become inverted. The pilot was found to have died.

Pilot - Mr Christopher David Bolton, aged 44. Burial location unknown.
