Halifax VI RG667 at Breighton airfield.

On 26th June 1945 this 78 Squadron aircraft was flown on a night training exercise. At 01.08hrs, with the pupil pilot at the controls, the aircraft landed at Breighton normally and while being taxied, without warning, the port undercarriage leg collapsed. It was found that the trainee pilot had either inadvertantly moved the undercarriage select lever to the neutral position or that some clothing had snagged on it and it had been moved. Normally this would not have resulting in the leg folding but a faulty pressure valve then caused the hydraulic oil to loose pressure.
