Halifax VI RG512 at Full Sutton airfield.

During the morning of 2nd June 1945 this 77 Squadron was flown on a bomb disposal flight. During the flight the port outer engine caught fire owing to a fuel leak. The crew operated the internal Graviner extinguisher system which appears to have put out the fire and the pilot went on to make a safe landing back at Full Sutton airfield. He was later commended for his handling of the situation. The AM Form 1180 gives the time of the incident as being 10.28hrs and that it was thirteen minutes into the flight. Whether this would mean the crew went on to dispose of the bombs, presumably into the North Sea, or they landed with them on board.

Pilot - F/O Andrew Leighton Wilson RAFVR (188411).

Plus four crew - Names unknown.
