Lancaster MkI PA228 at Finningley airfield.

In the early hours of 6th June 1945 this Bomber Command Instructor's School aircraft was flown on a circuits and landings training flight that included practicing flying and landing with one engine shut down. With the port outer engine shut down and the propeller feathered, at 01.15hrs the crew made a landing at Finningley but no one had checked that the undercarriage was lowered. It landed on it's belly and skidded to a halt. Cat.Ac/FA damage was the initial damage assessment (which I find hard to believe), then on 2nd July 1945 it was upgraded to Re-Cat.B and taken away for a repair in works by A.V.Roe but never came out of M.U. storage once servicable until being scrapped.
