Wellington X NA937 near Catfoss airfield.
According to it's AM Form 78 the aircraft was on the books of No.20 Operational Training Unit who were based at Lossiemouth. On 13th July 1945 it appears being flown on a ferry flight somewhere and while at 20,000 feet a fuel pipe broke that supplied the port engine. The crew decended, presumably to find somewhere to land. The aircraft caught fire roughly above Catfoss airfield and the pilot then made a forced landing in a field just off the airfield site. The incident is mentioned in the Central Gunnery School record book (who were based at Catfoss airfield) and stated that one officer and one corporal were on board. The National Archives file "AVIA5/22 Rep.2236" will hold much more information as to what happened. I have yet to view the file.
