Wildcat VI JV887 at Sherburn in Elmet airfield.

On 22nd October 1945 this aircraft landed on wet grass at Sherburn in Elmet airfield, the pilot could not bring the aircraft to a halt in the space available and it ran off the runway, the pilot braked and it tipped up onto its nose. It appears to have been damaged while in the care of No.7 Ferry Pilot Pool, ATA though was being flown by a civilian pilot who worked as a test pilot for Blackburn Aircraft. More information as to why the aircraft was being flown by who it was needs to be learnt. He was a very successful engineer of model steam trains and also full sized gliders in the 1930s.

Pilot - (Mr?) Reginald Frederick Stephen "Rex" Stedman.
