Mosquito FB.VI HX970 at Croft airfield.

On 27th November 1945 this No.13 Operational Training Unit aircraft was due to take off from Croft so that the Dutch pilot could undertake a training exercise. Once the engines were started he over-tightened throttle control lever locking nuts. When he attempted to move the throttle controls the nut on the starboard control lever would not move and then broke off. The port lever moved causing the aircraft to swing. The pilot could not reduce power and the aircraft ran across the airfield and collided with Mosquito HJ761 that was parked in a dispersal point unoccupied.

Pilot - Sgt Wilhelmus Gerardus Koster RNNAS? (320 Sqn). Seriously injured.
