Vengeance TT.4 HB517 at Hutton Cranswick airfield.

On 13th November 1945 the pilot of this 288 Squadron aircraft undertook a cross country training flight. On his return to land at Hutton Cranswick airfield he was unfamiliar with the cockpit lighting in respect of the undercarriage locking lights. He believed that as only one green light was showing there was a problem with the undercarriage so retracted it before deliberately making a belly landing. The aircraft was badly damaged and was not repaired. This aircraft type only had one green light that confirmed the undercarriage was locked down.
