Lancaster I ED368 at Finningley airfield.

During the morning of 11th June 1945 this Bomber Command Instructor's School aircraft was being flown on a training exercise that involved flying on three engines and practicing making an approach to land at Finningley followed by flying an overshoot with an engine shut down. At 11.00hrs the starboard inner engine unexpectedly failed while the aircraft was in the airfield's circuit so the pilots correctly feathered the propeller. A normal three engine landing was then made but after landing a fire was observed burning on the starboard wing. The Graviner fire extinguisher system was operated and the fire went out though minor damage had already been caused.
