Spitfire Vb BM535 near Tickton.
On 13th June 1945 the engine of this Central Gunnery School aircraft failed while flying at 1,000 feet over the East Riding of Yorkshire during a fighter affiliation exercise. The pilot was unable to fly back to his base at Catfoss so, instead of force landing in a field he opted to bale out. The aircraft crashed at 17.45hrs near the village of Tickton, near New Holland Farm.
