Spitfire AM139 at Catfoss airfield.
At 11.15hrs on 10th June 1945 this Central Gunnery School aircraft was being taxied from a dispersal point at Catfoss airfield. Another aircraft was parked on one side of the Spitfire and a bowser was parked on the other side. The pilot concentrated on the position of the other aircraft on one side but did not keep a look out for how close the bowser was on the other side. A collision between the Spitfire and the bowser occurred and minor damage resulted to the Spitfire. The bowser should have been removed before the aircraft was moved.
Pilot - F/O Francis Newman Honey RAFVR (184330).
