Spitfire K9923 was built to contract 527113/36 by Vickers Armstrongs (Supermarine) Ltd. at Woolston and was taken in charge by 72 Squadron at Church Fenton on 21st April 1939. As a result of the incident at Church Fenton on 13th July 1939 Cat.W/FA damage was the damage assessment, it was struck off charge and what was left of the aircraft was cannibalised for spares.
