Whitley K7257 at Linton on Ouse aerodrome.
On 20th April 1939 this 58 Squadron aeroplane was to have been flown on a night cross country training exercise, it was also to be carried out with wartime lighting conditions being set at the crew's base of Linton on Ouse aerodrome. While taxying for take off the starboard wing struck an unlit Chance light, he had a small red light on top of it that the pilot mistook for a much smaller (and presuambly more distant) red glim light. Minor damage to the aeroplane resulted.

Edwin Haines was injured on 23rd September 1940 flying Hind L7198 on a ferry flight with No.4 Ferry Pilot Pool. He was also injured on 14th November 1942 flying Defiant AA426 with 19 M.U.
