On 28th April 1939 this 58 Squadron aeroplane taxied into a hanger door at Linton on Ouse aerodrome. This aeroplane appears to have been one of nine Heyfords loaned to 58 Squadron from 7 Squadron at Leconfield.

On 23rd May 1940 F/Lt McLaren was killed when Whitley N1361 of 58 Squadron was shot down by flak in the Ardennes Region of Belgium. He is buried Hooton War Cemetery, Belgium.
