Hawker Hart K3132 at Catfoss aerodrome.

On 5th January 1939 Hart K3132 of No.7 Flying Training School was being flown on an air gunnery training exercise on the range at Skipsea when it flew into a target cable. The pilot was able to remain in control and return to Catfoss aerodrome where No.7 F.T.S. were detached to while they undertook gunnery training. On landing at Catfoss a tyre burst, the aeroplane swung and came to a halt tipped on it’s nose.

This aeroplane was built to contract 190684/32 by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. at Kingston as an Audax but was completed as a Hart (Special). On 2nd October 1933 it was delivered to H.A.D. at Henlow. On 28th April 1936 it was taken on charge by No.7 F.T.S. at Peterborough and sustained damage at Catfoss on 5th January 1939. Cat.M/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. It appears to have remained with No.7 F.T.S. until 5th December 1940 when it was flown to 10 M.U. at Hullavington. On 7th April 1941 it was passed to 30 M.U. at Sealand but was struck off charge on 16th August 1941.
