Unidentified aeroplane at Marr.
During the night of Thursday, 20th April 1939 this No.4 Elementary and Reserve Flying Training School aeroplane made a forced landing in a field near the village of Marr, just west of Doncaster. The reason for the landing is not known, nor is the aeroplane's identity. Minor damage appears to have resulted but the pilot was not injured. The unit the pilot and aeroplane were from were based at Brough. The pilot may have been a civilian undertaking RAF initial RAF pilot training as there is no one with this name within the AIR78 index card series that lists all RAF personnel at the National Archives. He doesn't appear to have been born in England or Wales.
Pilot - Roderick Douglas May, aged 29.
