Hughes 269B G-REBL near Oxenhope.
Just before 13.00hrs on Sunday, 12th August 1990 this helicopter took off from a site in the Oxenhope area with a passenger flying with the pilot. It climbed to 2000 feet with the fuel pump boost set to the on position. The pilot then set course for Blackpool and switched off the fuel pump boost, a short time later the helicopter lost power and began to auto-rotate toward the ground. During the descent the pilot switched the fuel pump boost switch back on and he began to recover control but as the aircraft was close to the ground he attempted to land. A landing was attempted on steep ground around a mile west of Oxenhope, the tail rotor struck the ground which caused damage to the helicopter. After the engine was inspected a fuel leak in one of the injector lines was found. At the time of this incident the aircraft was registered to Rebelmile Ltd, of Blackpool.
