Monnett Sonerai IIL G-BKDC at Breighton airfield.
The AAIB report states that the pilot of this aircraft purchased it on 6th August 1990; the day before this eventual crash. The CAA / G-INFO website does not tally with this. Keith McBride, of Doncaster, is shown as the registered owner from 2nd August 1989 to 1993. I would therefore welcome information to clarify this. During the morning of 7th August 1990 the "new" owner had planned to fly it solo from Breighton airfield. At 11.00hrs he took off but shortly after leaving the ground the engine speed dropped so the pilot attempted to land straight ahead in a stubble field just beyond the runway. On landing the right undercarriage leg struck a piece of rubble that broke off the wheel. The pilot managed to remain in control and then belly land in the field a short distance later. The pilot later reported that he believed that the loss of power was possibly due to water or dirt in the fuel.
