Piper PA-32R-301 Saratoga SP G-BIYM at Doncaster airfield.
During a flight from Liverpool toward Doncaster during the afternoon of 26th October 1990 this aircraft suffered a total electrical failure. The pilot found that the engine was still functioning correctly so proceeded toward his destination airfield at Doncaster and lowered the undercarriage using an emergency procedure. Owing to the electrical failure there were no green lights showing that would indicate that the downlocks were in place but as he felt them lock down he continued to land. As it slowed on the ground the left main undercarriage leg slowly folded which caused minor damage to the left wing and fuselage. At the time of this incident the aircraft was registered to Pinta Investments Ltd, of St.Helier, Jersey, though probably based at a UK mainland airfield.
