Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee G-BEII near Burn airfield.
On 2nd December 1990 this aircraft was used to tow gliders into the air at Burn airfield. After one launch and whilst it was on the approach to land at Burn the tow rope struck an 11,000 volt power line which shorted the wires together. The aircraft went on to land normally and it was later found that a 300 feet long tow rope instead of a shorter one had been attached to the aircraft in error. At the time of this incident the aircraft was registered to Burn Gliding Club Ltd, of Burn. It had been damaged in Wales in May 1986 but repaired.
