Scheibe SF.28A Tandem-Falke G-BARZ near Ripon.
On Sunday, 14th January 1990 this motor-glider was being flown in the Ripon area with one of the pilots attempting to make a practice landing approach over a field. It was drizzling at the time of the flight and the grass overwhich the glider was flying was wet. At thirty feet above the ground the pilot applied power to the engine to climb away but the glider did not climb quick enough to clear the uphill sloping field over which the practice landing approach was made. Realising that a landing would been to be made the pilot abandoned trying to take off but then had to groundloop to try and avoid hitting a fence at the end of the field. At the time of this incident the aircraft was registered to James Alan Fox (of Knaresborough), Robert Ivor Lloyd (of Forres), Richard Michael Grout (of Carteron, Oxfordshire) and Harold Orme (of Grantham).
2 Pilots - Names unknown.
