Cessna 404 Titan D-ICCF at Leeds-Bradford airfield.

During the afternoon of Tuesday, 11th April 1989 a gale affected Northern England. During this afternoon this cargo aircraft was detailed to make a flight from Southend to Maastricht with what must have been a planned leg north to land at Leeds-Bradford airfield as part of the flight plan. The aircraft attempted a landing at Leeds-Bradford airfield to pick up freight at 17.35hrs on Runway 14 which had a strong crosswind blowing at the time. The wind speed was deemed acceptable to make a landing but on the landing run a gust of wind caught the aircraft and lifted up the right wing some distance. The left wing struck the ground, this caused the aircraft to swing off the runway and once onto the grass the nose undercarriage leg collapsed. It suffered damage to the wings, fuselage, engines and propellers. The aircraft was registered in West Germany to Cologne Commercial Flight GmbH and was probably based at Cologne. This aircraft was noted in an article in Air Yorkshire magazine as still being at Leeds-Bradford airfield on 6th July 1989.
