Steen Skybolt G-BNKG at Walton Wood airstrip.
On 9th June 1989 the pilot of this aircraft planned to fly from Netherthorpe airfield to Glenrothes and was due to land at Newcastle on the flight. During the morning he attempted the flight north but was forced to turn back to land at Netherthorpe because of poor weather. Later in the day the pilot attempted the flight again and set off from Netherthorpe. He reached the Wetherby area but again the weather was poor so he turned south. Instead of flying all the way back to Netherthorpe airfield he decided to land at Walton Wood airstrip, near Pontefract. The aircraft drifted off the line of the runway on landing and while the pilot attempted to apply power and take off again he was unable to do so before the aircraft struck a five foot high crop that was present to the side of the runway. This dragged the aircraft into the ground and while the aircraft's propeller and a lower wing were slightly damaged, the pilot escaped injury. The aircraft was a stunt flying plane and was probably heading north for an event. The aircraft was registered to Cavendish Aviation Ltd, of Baslow, Derbyshire.
