Let L-13 Blanik BGA.1500 at Rufforth airfield.
On 30th April 1988 this Blanik glider was being winch launched at Rufforth airfield with the launch beginning prior to a runway intersection. Near to the runway intersection was a parked Schleicher As-K13 glider. During the early stages of the launch the nose of the Blanik turned into the wind and it altered course toward the parked glider. While the pilot attempted to pull off the ground to avoid it, a collision occurred and both gliders sustained some damage. Both pilots in the Blanik escaped injury. TThe glider was registered to the Ouse and Hambletons Gliding Club and was based at Rufforth.
