Reims Cessna F.172M Skylark G-BFLO at Sherburn in Elmet airfield.
At 15.30hrs on 20th March 1988 this aircraft failed to get airborne on take off from Sherburn in Elmet on a soft runway with long grass present. With the aircraft three quarters of the way down the runway the pilot attempted to stop the take off and veered off runway. He could not prevent it over-running into a ploughed field which caused the wheels to sink and it overturned. The aircraft was extensively damaged and two of the occupants were injured.
At the time of this incident the aircraft was registered to Messers William Anthony Cook, Mark Richard Dixon and Michael John Milns, all of the Leeds area.
